Hello! Thanks for viewing my shop. I've been teaching now for over 10 years and was a teaching assistant before that. I'm currently teaching Year 3/4 but have taught in EYFS, Year 1 and 2, & Yr 6. I've worn many hats during my teaching career and I'm now deputy head of a small but ever growing successful first school!
I love creating resources that can be used to capture and engage the children in my class that allow them to really enjoy their learning. Please get in touch and leave feedback!

Hi,
I’ve been teaching phonics for over 10 years and have successfully taught children to read phonetically using school bought schemes .
However, i’ve found that some children ( especially boys) find it more difficult to retain phonetic knowledge.
With this in mind i created lots of fun resources aimed at engaging children using a competitive and fun method.
I hope you and your children enjoy these resources ( many of which are editable ) !
Good luck and all the best
These Sight Word Fluency Sentence flash cards are a FAB way for your pupils to become confident and fluent readers!
Learning to read and spell the common exception words can be a tricky task for most Year 2 children.
I send this resource to parents on a key ring for children to learn at home.
I also use them in school during Guided Reading sessions and on my IWB to display to the whole class.
There are 64 flash cards in total.
I hope you find this resource useful.
Attached is an editable version to use within your own class and not for re-sale.
Many thanks
There are three roll and name picture game boards that allow your children to create their own pseudonyms names for the aliens. Great practice for the Phonics Screening Check!
Roll an alien name Boards 1 to 3 -
vowel split digraphs a_e, e_e, i_e, o_e & u_e all with varied initial blends to start the word.
Alien name race boards
Board 1 -vowel split digraphs a_e, e_e, i_e, o_e & u_e

EDITABLE VERSIONS INCLUDED
**How to play: **
Roll the dice. When it lands on a number look for the sound designated to that number, ask the children to write it on whiteboard and soundout. If correct they can stay on that square of game board. Continue rolling and creating anmes for every alien they land on. For additional rules see rules attached to this resource. Allow children to make up rules!
Can be played with 1 or 2 players. Race game can be up to 4 players. Use counters/objects/coins etc as player pieces.
I really hope that you and your children get a lot out of playing these games.
Any feedback is welcome as I’m always looking to improve resources to support teachers and children to achieve their potential.
Thanks

ALL RESOURCES ARE EDITABLE so you can differentiate activities to suit the needs of your class.
These are ideal for small group games, whole class or 1-2-1 intervention sessions.
Ideas on how to sue these resources.
Use them as flash cards in starters or plenaries.
Lay them out on floor and ask children to jump and say as if they are stepping stones.
Lay out the cards and ask children to find pairs
Send them out as homework games to support interventions.
I really hope that all these resources help support and enhance your children’s learning.
This resource allows you to take your class through a step by step tasks that will see all your pupils achieving a fabulous piece of writing that is modeled but allows all your class to come up with differing pieces of writing.
The slides allow discussion and partner work. The rainbow strips can be cut up and placed on tables to allow the children to chose their own structure of their writing.
My class created some unbelievable pieces of writing using this scaffolded approach and I really hope that your class achieve the same result.
Many thanks
Hi,
This resource includes a smart board and powerpoint presentation of poetry activities and ideas.
The smart board includes hyperlinks to help with moving through the slides.
Each slide is presented in a way that is friendly and bright to capture your pupils imaginations and attention!
There are 37 slides.Many including a poetry idea/activity.
I am a big believer in deepening my pupil’s vocabulary and hope that each slide achieves the same with your own class. I have placed an emphasis on vocab and have used this as discussion points.
I hope that you find this resource useful and that your children’s writing shines!
Thanks
This resource structures persuasive writing for your whole class. I have used this resource for Year 3/4 but it can easily be adapted for year 5/6.
In the past I have used this a whole lesson and written each sentence as a class to really create an in depth piece of writing. I would ask the children for their ideas and they would collaboratively come up with ideas and then write down after sharing them with whole class.
I have also cut the sentence strips out and allowed my higher attaining pupils to play around with the structure.
This resource allows the lowers a structure to follow and the opportunity to write without worrying about content and structure.
I hope that you enjoy using this resource and that your children’s writing is wonderful!
Many thanks
This resource includes 6 game boards.
mixed sounds set 2 and 3 RWI phase 4 & 5
a_e
e_e
i_e
o_e
u_e
I hope that you and your class love playing this game.
Many thanks
This resource includes 5 game boards and the sounds au, oi, ear /ur pronunciation of ear, ar and ea.
There is a mixture of nonsense and real words on each board.
For best results print A3!
I have asked children to select their playing piece from a basket of cars and used a large foam die! just to add a twist and gimmick to it.
I have used these with a class of 20 plus but found they are great for use in interventions and 1:2:1 teaching.
Each board takes roughly 20 mins to play with 3 players.
In the past I’ve held small competitions to see who won overall.
Hope your class love this game!
Thanks
This game was loved by my mixed R/1 class so much that I created a 4 player A3 sheet version. It promotes reading and sharing. Included is a 2 player and 4 player version.
This download includes 5 PDF documents with 4 game boards (20 boards in all).
Each split digraph a_e , e_e, i_e , o_e and u_e have been split into three levels of difficulty and the middle ability has a copy with the sounds highlighted to further differentiate. Boards contain a mixture of nonsense/alien words and real.
The pupils simply roll die and then move car and say word they land on. They don’t move if they can’ read the nonsense word. The other pupils really enjoy being the ref and check their friends learning. To make it a longer game use a die just up to 3.
This can be used as a whole class activity / starter or with 1:1/group interventions.
You could simply use this to time your children on how fast they can read the words.
To extend game just overlap the game boards and make the track longer.
Children could play best out of three or you could use the game boards to set out a mini competition/tournament around the classroom. It’s also great when doing transport as a theme and to check and stretch learning.
I’ve included the word documents so that you can edit and create your own words.
Great revision activity for the new Year 1 phonics screening check.
No real preparation needed. Simply print and use. You only need toy cars or a playing piece and a die.
I really hope you and your class enjoy this as much as my class do. Please leave feedback if possible :)
Thanks
This resource includes 7 game boards and an Interactive Smart board version. The alien words (pseudonyms) cover all the split digraphs and there is one board that covers just the sounds.
To further extend the game you could hold your own world cup with group rounds and then knockout rounds.
You could use two boards or a die up to 3.
I hope that your class enjoys playing these games.
Many thanks for viewing.
This resource includes 4 games boards with coloured background and 4 without background so you can save toner when printing. I’ve also included some alien cards which you can use to plays snap or splat games etc.
simply ask the children to roll a die and then move their piece to the number rolled. if they can read the word then they land on it, if not they cannot.
Great for small groups or 1:2:1 sessions.
To increase the length of a game you could use die with only 3 numbers or join two boards together.
I hope that your class enjoy playing these boards.
This resource has loads of activities for you and your class to revise for the phonics screening check.
7 resources jam packed with activities and ideas for your class.
This resource includes an Interactive **White board & powerpoint presentation **that has a random pseudonym (alien words) generator for each set of bingo games. 39 boards in total
Set 1 - 15 game boards
Set 2 - 15 game boards
set 3 - 9 game boards
Each set covers a mixed range of phases to allow for your class to revise for the Phonics Screening Check.
Bingo is perfect for revising all the sounds and in a fun way.
You can use these with your class, small groups or 1:1.
I hope that you and your class find this resource useful.
Many thanks!
This game is great for promoting vocabulary/terminology in my mixed R/1 class.
This download includes 10 PDF documents with 4 pages (40 game boards in all).
Each game board covers a range of sounds from phase 2-5 and set 2/3 RWI.
This game is a great revision activity that is fun and allows children to show what they know as well as collaborate/play with other children.
This can be used as a whole class activity / starter or with 1:1/group interventions.
Great revision activity for the upcoming phonics screening test.
No real preparation needed. Simply print, cut and use.
To play who’s who the children need to pick a word and then ask other players questions to eliminate possible words (aliens).
Alternatively you can laminate boards and just ask children to choose a alien (word) and ask children to sit in a group to play.
Also I have used these as bingo boards for small groups (up to 4 children).
I really hope you and your class enjoy this as much as my class do. Please leave feedback if possible :)
Thanks

This game is loved by my mixed R/1 class.
This download includes 5 PDF documents with 4 pages (20 boards in all) and a smartboard version of all hard copies for interactive whiteboard.
Each split digraph a_e , e_e, i_e , o_e and u_e have been split into three levels of difficulty and the middle ability has a copy with the sounds highlighted to further differentiate. The pupils simply roll die and then move car and say word they land on.
These sounds are ideal to cover if you are working on phase 5 or set 3 RWI phoncis schemes.
This can be used as a whole class activity / starter or with 1:1/group interventions. The interactive Smartboard game uses a die that only goes up to 3. This makes it a snappy but not too long a game.
Children could play best out of three or you could use the game boards to set out a mini competition/tournament around the classroom. It’s also great wen doing transport as a theme and to check and stretch learning.

This takes a little prep to do but my children enjoyed the freedom of moving about to get the tokens and match them to the definition of the term.
It is fully editable so please feel free to add/remove terminology or create your own version.
This resource includes 2 worksheets in which the children must solve what term is what and then write an example. They must finally find the terminology token and stick in correct box of the sheet.
Hope this helps!
Thanks.
Hi,
This Interactive white board activity allows your children to spot the odd sounding word out and play ‘Into the black hole’…a game that sees the child dragging the pseudonym (alien word) into the black hole and into oblivion. The real words stay in front of the black hole and the alien disappear behind the center of the hole.
The game is accompanied by a worksheet that can be used in conjunction with the IWB or without.
The resource is editable so feel free to tinker to suit the sound and needs of your class. In most slides you can edit the words.
I hope that this resource helps you and your children continue to love reading and enjoy their Phonics teaching.
These resources will engage your class in the teaching of phonics.
Games are in IWB - smartboard files
Adapt each activity to suit the sound you are teaching or use these slides as revision for the up and coming Phonics Screening check.
The handbook will enable you to choose games to play with your class and help give you suggestions on how to play and adapt those games to suit the needs of the class.
I hope these resources help your children with their reading!
Many thanks
